H & D Construction is a company that uses a teamwork approach built on honesty, integrity, and hard work. The Company, founded by Michael DiGiacomo and James Horne. The management team has over 50 years of combined experience and they preside over their departments with a standard of excellence. Customer satisfaction drives every aspect of our Company. Therefore, staying on the leading edge of our industry is important to us. We spend more money on equipment, employees, and leading edge technology than we do on marketing and advertising. We are confident in our team and in their ability to provide you with best service possible. James Horne, Co-Founder, President and Chief Executive OfficerJames entered the Florida road building and underground utilities sector in 1975. He rose through the ranks at Dickerson to become a Senior Vice President. Dickerson is one of the largest and most respected road builders in the state of Florida for over 50 years. James was also responsible for building Felix Associates to over $100 million in annual revenues prior to the asphalt division sale to Community Asphalt. Mr. Horne was also a senior manager at Community Asphalt prior to founding H&D Construction. James has completed asphalt, pavement, and earthworks courses at the University of Florida. He has won several outstanding awards from the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida/FDOT for those firms. To mention a few: 1989 Road and Street Award, 1996 City Street County Road Award, 1996 Resurfacing Award, and 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000 AP (PAT) Bolton Award. James is responsible for total project management and delivery. He is a tremendous leader and mentor to his team. James' expertise and his attention to the smallest detail enables the team to provide a standard of excellence on each project. Michael DiGiacomo, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President Michael has worked in the road and underground utilities sector for over a decade and began his career with Dickerson where he worked with Mr. Horne. Michael also spent time with Felix Associates. Michael has worked in the asphalt and underground utilities sector for many years. Michael has asphalt testing and lime rock certifications from the University of Florida and has won several awards from the Asphalt Contractors Association/FDOT. A few are: the Statewide and District 4 award for I-95 Indian River county and the AP (Pat) Bolton Award. Michael is registered with the State of Florida as a General Contractor and underground utilities specialist. Michael is responsible for estimating projects at H&D Constrution. He has comprehensive experience, skill and judgement in bidding projects that leads to quality and profitable jobs for the firm. He shares the vision of seeing H&D Construction become a respected Florida leader in the road and underground utilties. Wayne Richmond, Chief Surveyor Wayne has a long history in the construction industry and as a surveyor. Prior to joining H&D Construction, he spent time with Smith Land Surveying, Consultant Engineering Services, and Culpepper & Terpening. Wayne has extensive experience in road and underground utility projects and has managed numerous survey crews. Wayne received a Land Surveying degree from Glenville State College, and his bachelor's degree from West Virginia University. He has held numerous licenses over his career including, Professional Surveyor, Certified Concrete Inspector, Certified Nuclear Compact Technician, and Certified Aggregate Sampler. Thomas Raulerson, Project Manager Tommy, is a labor management and construction supervisor. Tommy has 26 years experience in the construction industry. He is responsible for all site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. Prior to joining the H&D team over his 26 year career, Tommy worked with Gustafson Construction, APAC Construction, Wayne Helms Underground, and Dickerson. Tommy has received training and licenses in Paving, Florida Advance Work Zone Traffic Control, and Storm Water Pollution Inspection training. William Strickland, Field Superintendent and Equipment Manager Bill is a labor management and construction supervisor. He provides administrative direction to on-site superintendents and crews. He ensures projects are completed on schedule, within budget and to specifications. He has extensive experience with heavy machinery used in land clearing and earth moving operations, sewer, lift station, and water distribution systems. Brian Kirkpatrick, Field Superintendent Bryan is a labor management and construction superintendent. Bryan is a strong performer in delivering safe and productive road work. He is responsible for all site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. Prior to joining the H&D team over his 28 year career, Brian worked with Carter and Associates, Schulke, Bittle & Stoddard and he was a maintenance supervisor for the City of Palm Bay. Wes Schaefer, Field Superintendent Wes is a labor management and construction superintendent. Wes has many years experience as a Project Manager, Superintendent and Estimator. He is responsible for all site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. Prior to joining the H&D team Wes worked for J.W. Cheatham LLC as a project superintendent on multiple roadway and earthwork projects. Steve Reed, Senior Estimator Steve is a senior estimator in our estimating department. Steve has over 35 year experience in the construction industry utilizing his civil engineering background. Steve has experience in not only bidding jobs, but supervising and managing those same jobs to profitable completion. Over his 35 year career, Steve has worked for firms such as, Mancil's Tractor, Cathco Inc, Erskine Florida, Edward Susany Construction, Floyd G. Browne & Associates. Steve completed course work in civil engineering at Ohio State University and course work in construction management at Youngstown State University. Steve also has an underground utilities license from the state of Florida.
